Rahman on Kochadaiyaan

Superstar Rajinikanth's Kochadaiyaan has been in the news ever since it commenced and continues to do so. The movie touted to be a technological extravaganza has Oscar hero AR Rahman crooning the music and he has quipped it once too many that it will be a feast for the eyes and ears, coming it out with jaw dropping music.

Recently in a media interaction he has revealed that owing to the technological upgradation these days, Rajini has been made to look very young and dashing thanks to clinical animation and motion capture program. The movie has Soundarya Ashwin directing it and also has Deepika Padukone in the lead cast.

AR Rahman's new role

Oscar winner A.R Rahman is a very occupied man with numerous projects flowing into his brimming bucket. The composer, who enjoys his music, gave us an album filled with bliss in Maryan.
 

Now the music director seems to have other plans. He has planned to step up to take the role of a producer now. He has started his own production banner called Y M movies, under which he will produce his maiden venture.
 

Apparently, A.R Rahman has teamed up with talents around the world and has developed the story for the film. It will be a Hindi movie co produced by Eros International.
 

The filming of the moive will kick off this year. ARR will compose the music. The technical crew and the artists are not finalized yet. Stay tuned!!!

ARR's Hindi Song in Hollywood

Though most musicians have ample knowledge on world music, there are only a handful who compose for the whole world. AR Rahman, without a doubt, is one of the most sought after musicians with an international presence. Composing for every part of the world, AR Rahman is that rare talent who bagged two golden ladies at the Oscars. But his Hollywood rendezvous does not end there. It would be an understatement to say ARR has ardent fans all over the world. Justifying this, the track 'Tere Bina' from 'Guru' (Bollywood) is all to feature in the upcoming animated Hollywood film - 'Planes'. Revolving around the life of different planes, the animation movie is to have a scene showing the Taj Mahal and this song is to feature there.

But this is not the first time an ARR song features in Hollywood. Earlier, the mega popular 'Chhaiya Chhaiya' from 'Dil Se' featured in Denzel Washington's 'Inside Man'. Meanwhile, the track 'Swasame' from Kamal Hassan starrer 'Tenali' featured in the 2008 release, 'Accidental Husband'. Also, the theme music of 'Bombay' was used in the film 'Lord of War', by Nicolas Cage. Looks like we aren't the only ones who love the earthen flavours.

How AR Rahman Became 'Isai Puyal'

AR Rahman is Isai Puyal, Rajinikanth is Superstar, Vadivelu is Vaigai Puyal - these are terms we use everyday to refer to our favourite legends, but how often do we take time off to wonder where these titles originated from. Probably his fondness for the energy of a tornado, gave Kollywood two Puyal's.

We are talking about the ace director Bharathiraja, who made the confident decision of handing over a rich village script, 'Kizhakku Seemayile', to the thoroughly city bred composer of gen Y, AR Rahman. Though everyone was initially sceptical about his choice for music director, the movie went on to become one of the best albums of ARR, as all the songs were chart toppers. Hence came the name Isai Puyal for one of the finest musicians of all times, AR Rahman. The name Vaigai Puyal for Vadivelu was also christened by the same director. And who coined Superstar for Rajinikanth? It was Kalai Puli S Dhaanu's initiative.

A R RAHMAN LAUNCHES COFFEE TABLE BOOK REFLECTIONS

In a new coffee table book Reflections, double Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman looks back at memorable moments spent with those who have worked with him through the years. The book also shares singers’ tributes to the Mozart of Madras.

“The book is a tribute by AR Rahman to singers who have influenced his music. It is also a heartwarming tribute by the singers to the composer, the special man who shared with them his unique and compassionate style of working and who helped them to tap into and discover musical potential which sometimes even they didn’t know they possessed,” professional photographer T Selvakumar, the author of the book, said in a statement.

Published by Audio Media Inc, Reflections will be on sale from July. The proceeds from the book will go to support the charitable work of A. R. Rahman Foundation.

Touched by the book, Rahman said, “Twenty years after my first film, I am pausing to reflect on the people who have contributed so richly to my music. I am happy that these wonderful individuals have been so beautifully photographed by Selva.”

“Through arduous long nights and day-long rehearsals and recordings, my half-sleepy and tired, unassuming and self-effacing musicians and colleagues stood tall by me, sharing and celebrating my success,” he added.

Rahman has scored for music for a string of Bollywood, southern and international films. He made a mark globally with the soundtrack of Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire, which won him two Academy Awards.
