Superstar Rajinikanth's latest avatar

Sri Purandara Dasa is considered as the Grandfather of carnatic music and at the recent Guru Vandana programme hosted by the Sri Purandara Dasa International Trust Superstar Rajinikanth was honoured with a portrait of the star actor as the legendary carnatic singer.

The Guru Vandana is an event dedicated to honour those who have contributed heavily in the field of music but an exception was made in the case of Rajini as the head of the trust, Mr. Mohan Kumar, decided to reward Rajini for being an exceptional human being.

Rajini graciously accepted the trust’s gesture but was unable to attend the event. The superstar had requested one of his closest friends Rao Bahadur to represent him at the function and collect the portrait on his behalf.

Story of 'Kochadaiyaan'

There was once an able king, and hence, happy and content citizens. But on a fateful day, one of the king's close friends plots against him and acquires his kingdom, while the king was driven away. The king gets a baby boy, who grows up to become a great warrior, and fights and redeems the kingdom that rightfully belongs to him.

This is not any other story. This is the story of the period set impressive production, starring Superstar Rajinikanth, titled 'Kochadaiyaan'. The old king is Kochadaiyaan and the son (which will also be played by Rajinikanth) is named Rana. One of the best highlights of the film is said to be the shot where Rana encounters a shark and successfully fights it down. However, it has also been reported earlier that the film involves a lot of dolphins. Written by KS Ravikumar and directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth, the film stars Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone in the lead, and has been promised to be released before the end of this year.

PC Sreeram quips on Rajini and Kamal

In a recent media interaction with ace cinematographer PC Sreeram, the camera man revealed his views on Rajini & Kamal movies. He quipped that although he adores the movies of both the actors, Kamal's movies have a slight edge over Rajini's, as he feels that Rajini's commercial foray does not faze him much and the last few movies he has seen are Endhiran, Mannan and Annamalai.

He further mentioned that out of all his movies that he has worked with Kamal, he likes Kuruthipunal the best, as the movie was a challenging affair. The movie had frame by frame shots which portrayed close up acting at its best. He also said apart from the movies that he has worked with Kamal, he is always a silent admirer of Kamal's movies just like any other spectator.
