After playing important roles in Murugadoss’ Engeyum Eppodhum and Vatthikuchi, Vatsan, an ardent fan of Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s, has finally made it as a hero in a film, titled Apple Penne. Directed by R.K. Kalaimani, who had worked with the likes of Vijayakanth, Karthik and Prabhu, the movie has Aishwarya Menon as the female lead. Yesteryear heroine Roja returns in a glam role after a gap. Mani Sharma composes the music.
It was but natural for Vatsan who used the ‘Thalapthy Anthem’ last year — a huge hit — to let his matinee idol, Vijay, know first about the film. “After hearing the news Vijay Anna was super happy. He called me and conveyed his greetings through an autograph (when he wrote ‘Best Wishes’ on my picture). Being his diehard fan since childhood, I am really happy that he has been very supportive. He has advised me a lot and that made me gain patience and work hard.”
